Board and Train

Board and train is designed to immerse your dog in an intensive lifestyle program. During a board and train, your dog lives in my home with me and my family. All dogs receive appropriate mental and physical exercise, including daily training sessions, structured walks, outdoor/yard play time, bed stays/“place” command, treadmill time, and more. Throughout the board and train, we work on addressing behaviors and goals established ahead of time.

At the end of the board and train, we work together at a go-home session and follow up session(s) to ensure smooth transition of your dog’s skills back to you and your family. Owners are responsible for purchasing their own equipment (e collars, crates, leashes, collars, etc.).

It is important to know that a board and train is not a one-stop “fix” for your dog’s behavior. The first step in changing your dog’s behavior is understanding that you will have to make changes, too! I expect owners to be engaged during the b&t process, to ask questions, and to commit to ongoing lifestyle changes in order to support their dog’s ongoing success. If owners are not committed to maintaining training and structure in the home, the training will not be successful in the long term.

At this time, private one-on-one sessions are only available to dogs and owners who have completed a board and train package.

Board and Train Programs

  • Basic Board and Train

A basic b&t is a good option for young dogs and dogs with mild behavior challenges. During a b&t, we will work on the fundamentals of the following behaviors:
    crate conditioning
    loose leash walking
    sit, down, place
    recall
    thresholds and boundaries (door manners)

Dogs with a bite history, aggression, and other severe behaviors are not eligible for this program.

    Minimum Duration: 3 weeks
    Starting at $2,700

  • Behavior Modification

Behavior modification programs are for dogs with severe behaviors such as:
    human aggression/bites to humans
dog aggression/bites or attacks other dogs
    severe reactivity
    resource guarding
    fear-based behaviors

I accept behavior modification cases on a limited basis. Behavior modification is a serious, lifelong commitment and will require ongoing effort on the part of the owner.

Behavior modification programs include working on the skills in covered a basic b&t, as well as targeting the specific behavior modification needs of your individual dog.

    Minimum Duration: 4 weeks
    Starting at $4,000
